Golf Tournament

One of the most important Masonic teachings is charity. One of the ways our Lodge generates funds to fulfill this obligation is by holding an annual Golf Tournament. The Golf Tournament generates funds which are used for the support of poor / penniless / distressed Masons, their widows and orphans, and the Masonic Home & School in Arlington Texas.

Scholarship Barbeque (BBQ)

Each year in early March Sugar Land Masonic Lodge holds a BBQ (Beef Brisket, Chicken, &, Sausage) with live and silent auctions at the Sugar Land Community Center, located at 226 Matlage Way. Homemade desserts are available from our Sisters of the Order of Eastern Star. Take-out plates are available, but why miss the fun and excitement of our live and silent auctions? Tickets are $10.00; proceeds benefit Sugar Land Masonic Lodge, its Scholarship and Charities.

Student Scholarships

Our fraternity is proud of our historical ties and contributions to education from the very start of the Republic and State of Texas. As it is our wish to help those who contribute to the positive side of life's equation, we wish to enlist your aid in having deserving students at your school apply for these scholarships. Through our fundraising efforts we have awarded 60, $1,000 scholarships in the last 16 years to deserving students that want to build upon the base that they have received in our Texas school system.Click here to view past scholarship recipients.

Widows night

Each year we hold an evening to pay honor to the widows of our deceased Brothers. These ladies have been entertained with song, poetry, and good food, and high praise. We stand ready to assist them throughout the year, such as in providing Turkey Dinners to many of them on Thanksgiving Day.

Community Builders Awards

The Community Builders Awards has been designed to enable a Lodge to formally recognize outstanding non-Masons who have distinguished themselves through their service to the community, to the local, state or national government, to their Church or Synagogue, or to humanity. Thus, the award will be made available to be presented to individuals who, although they have never been initiated into Masonry, have followed the same precepts, ideals and standards that have been established for Masonic behavior. Cornerstone Level

A historic Sugar Land event was held at the new Sugar Land City Hall, o Saturday July 31, 2004 at 10:30 AM, The Grand Lodge of Texas at the request of Sugar Land Masonic Lodge conducted a Cornerstone Leveling Ceremony.

When the Grand Master of Texas Masons levels this cornerstone, he will be performing a ceremony that is more than 300 years old. This ceremony is essentially the same ceremony used to dedicate the great cathedrals and buildings in Europe.

Americans Masons have been leveling cornerstones since 1734, when Grand Master Benjamin Franklin presided the over the ceremony for Independence Hall in Philadelphia. Sixty years later, Master Mason George Washington leveled the cornerstone of the United States Capitol Building on September 18, 1793.

Reverend Lyttleton Fowler, Grand Chaplain of The Grand Lodge of Texas, leveled the first cornerstone leveled in Texas on February 3, 1838, at the first Protestant church built west of the Sabine River in San Augustine. Since then there have been hundreds of public buildings, schools and churches which have had cornerstones leveled by The Grand Lodge of Texas. Sugar land Masonic Lodge and the Grand Lodge of Texas are pleased to be able to offer this age-old custom to our community.
